GTS Rant

GTS, Global Trade Station, was one of the most attractive feature of the Pokémon games since Diamond/Pearl. It allows you to trade Pokémon online. This allows you to get version-exclusive Pokémon such as Palkia or Spiritomb. However, GTS is not as good as you think.

GTS is a tool. A tool can be misused. The GTS is spammed up with hacked Pokémon, impossible offers and more. When I was searching for something on the GTS, most times, they include the following:

  • Lv. 9- Palkia
  • Lv. 9- Mew
  • Lv. 10-20 Infernape

You know, they will never get traded. Their Trainers wanted to perform a clone, demanding a hacked Pokémon or for storage. Nintendo should unprioritize the impossible offers in searches. Also, the game should limit the seeking level restriction, so offers seeking for level 10s Infernape will be rejected.

Nintendo detect and block all Pokémon with suspicious data. However, it cannot ensure a hack-free gameplay. Any hacked Pokémon can be hacked so that the stats imitate legit Pokémon. Also, cloned Pokémon are hard to identify. Hacked Pokémon can destroy the game.
