When Kei awoke, he thought he was still dreaming. He was lying in a soft bed, and his arm was freshly bandaged. He looked down at it, and it was stained with red. Everything came back to him in a flash. The Mightyena, the leader, and...he winced. The wound that had been caused by the Alpha. Looking for food, it had found him. Suddenly, light flooded the room. Kei started blinking furiously, as he had been trapped in the dark for so long. "Oh, good. You're awake." Said a female voice. He turned towards it. "Wha-Who are you?" He asked in surprise. "I'm Sakura. Who are you, and what happened? We found you on the forest floor, close to death." "We?" Sakura nodded. "What happened?" She asked again. Kei told her everything. "Hm. That Mightyena pack has been around here for a long time, but has never given us any trouble." Sakura was wearing a light pink short-sleeved shirt and yellow pastel shorts. Her hair pink and was bound up in four ponytails, each one across from the others in almost a square shape, and she had one on the very top of her head as well. The two ponytails on top on each side of the middle one were tied with two pink baubles. Her eyes were pink as well. "Where did you get that puzzle piece?" She asked out of the blue. "I-I truthfully don't remember. Why?" "No reason." Sakura said hurriedly. "Are you feeling up for taking a tour of our village?" "Um...sure..." Kei said, still puzzled over the earlier question. Kei got up and winced. The wound was still fresh, and it hurt like the opposite of heaven. "MASAKI!! Over here!" Yelled Sakura, and waved. A young boy with dark purple-red hair came over. He wore a green cap that looked quite a lot like leaves and a deep purple shirt and matching pants. "Masaki's my little brother!" Sakura stated with a small smile. Kei just nodded. He thought that this was all very weird. Then he noticed--There were only a few other villagers around! They all looked sort of like Sakura and Masaki, but each was unique. "Why are there not many villagers around?" asked Kei, a bit unnerved. "Um...we were going to tell you about that." Sakura said abashedly, nervously making circles in the dirt with her feet. "So...what is it?" "All the villagers are sick." "What do you mean?" "There's something in the trees surrounding the village that's poisoning us." "Ah. May I see the trees please?" Sakura nodded, and led the way to a few trees blossoming with flowers. Kei climbed one of the trees until he was sitting on a branch. He saw a dark gash in the tree, and reached down it until he felt an exoskeleton. He pulled it out. "Aha!" When he pulled his hand out, a Shedinja was sitting there. "Here is the cause of your problem." "A Shedinja? But how did you know?" "When you mentioned trees and poison, I knew that Shedinja's usually like to nest in trees. And I don't think the villagers are poisoned...I think their spirits have been stolen." "What?!" Yelped Sakura in surprise. Masaki looked at the Shedinja sitting in Kei's hand nervously. "May I see the patients please?" Sakura nodded and led him toward a large hut. They stepped inside, and multiple other people were lying on the ground, motionless. The few that were moving were taking care of the sick. "Hmm...Masaki, can you please fetch me a bowl of hot water, some flower blossoms, and some cinnamon?" Masaki nodded, and then ran off. "What are you planning on doing?" Asked Sakura. "You'll see. But tell me--Do your friends climb trees often?" "Er...Something like that." "Could you tell them to stay away from those trees when they wake up?" "You mean they're going to wake up?" "I can't make any promises, but they should." At that moment in time, Masaki came hurrying in with the requested items. Kei poured the cinnamon and flower blossoms into the hot water and stirred it around. When he was done, Kei picked up a washcloth and dipped it in the aromatic mixture. He then dabbed on the face of a nearby woman. Sakura, Masaki, and the other people watching held their breaths. The woman stirred. "YES!" whooped Sakura, jumping into the air. Kei smiled, satisfied with himself. "But...What was all that stuff for?" "The cinnamon and blossoms were to bring the spirit back to the body, and the hot water to mix it in. I figured it out when I saw the Shedinja. You know how there are ghosts seen around graves? They are said to be lured by the aroma of spices and flowers. So, I went out on a limb and tried it out." "You're amazing!" Said Masaki, speaking for the first time. "Thanks. Well, I'd better be on my way." Sakura nodded. "The way out of the forest is simple." She explained the directions to him on their way out of the hut. "Bye. I'll stop bye whenever I pass by here again and see if everything's okay." Sakura nodded her head. With Sakura and Masaki waving goodbye, Kei headed back into the woods.
